"HISTORIAS CON ARTE"
"Historias Con Arte" is an art project that joins pop culture with great past works. It is a review of the history of art with irony.
Then, characters that are icons for everyone can be involved in adventures that artists like Picasso, Dali, Van Gogh, Duchamp, and many others gave us.
This project wants to combine pop culture with museum´s high culture, being be a way of approaching art world to general public. Nowadays the humour is always neccesary.
"Ownership" of past images has been one of the most important artistic strategies throughout the art history. There have been reviews of masterpieces by other artists. In this sense, we can highlight Picasso's versions of "The Meninas" painted by Velazquez, or Francis Bacon´s version of "X Inocencio Pope" by Velazquez too.
Hanging their pieces in museums may not be able to best way to pay tribute to the history of art, but also dare to play with them and ask about these works may mean today ...
